DMCP Courses: 'Day 1' Training Day for New Plan Deliverers 2019
Wednesday, 27th February 2019

QMMS Ltd, Cedar Barn, Easton, WELLS BA5 1DU

Tutors: Prof Andrew Bradley, Prof Martin Green,  Dr James Breen

The course introduces the concepts and research behind the AHDB Dairy Mastitis Control Plan, which was published in peer review in 2007, before being rolled out as a national scheme in 2009. Prospective Plan Deliverers will work through the stages of making a herd diagnosis, based on mastitis and cell count records, before using the ePlan software to identify relevant control priorities, using information gathered from a farm assessment. Several herd examples will be used to illustrate the approach and time will be made for discussion of topics including marketing the Plan in your practice, communicating change and reducing antibiotic use in dairy herds.

For registered AHDB Dairy Mastitis Control Plan Deliverers, this course can be selected as one of your CPD training days included in the cost of your individual or practice subscription.

Taurus CPD Courses: Mastitis Control - Implementing the 'QuarterPRO' Initiative with Your Clients 2019
Wednesday 10th July 2019

QMMS Ltd, Cedar Barn, Easton, WELLS, Somerset

Tutors:  Dr James Breen, Dr Andrew Bradley

This day is designed for veterinary surgeons and consultants to learn how to implement the new 'Quarter PRO' initiative for mastitis control. Whilst a proven approach to mastitis control exists (the AHDB Dairy Mastitis Control Plan), it has been recognised by an industry forum that a “lower” or “entry level” approach would be beneficial and cost effective on many farms. A new initiative ('Quarter PRO') is proposed, which aims to provide and promote a rapid approach to monitoring and improving udder health, accessible to all dairy farmers. This initiative will provide wider and easier access to elements of the AHDB Mastitis Control Plan and a means of co-ordinating udder health promotion materials.

Delegates will have access to a free CDL converter tool to generate the mastitis and cell count outputs required for the new mastitis Pattern Analysis Tool, developed for AHDB Dairy by QMMS Ltd and the Nottingham University School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. These tools will be used on the day, and therefore delegates are encouraged to bring milk recording CDL files and take part in active discussion on the day.

Run by Taurus CPD, this course costs £200.00 + VAT.
